  1. To equip graduates with essential mathematics, physics, geology, and computer science skills necessary for effective decision-making and problem-solving in the petroleum industry.
  2. To develop graduates proficient in using modern software and tools for petroleum engineering design, analysis, and simulation who can adapt to emerging technologies and trends in the field.
  3. To instill in graduates a sense of ethical responsibility and professionalism, with an understanding of the social, environmental, and economic implications of their work in the petroleum industry.
  4. To foster in graduates an appreciation for lifelong learning, professional development, and the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in diverse teams.
  5. To prepare graduates for successful careers in the petroleum industry, including opportunities in oil and gas exploration and production companies, service providers, and research institutions.
  6. To encourage graduates to pursue advanced studies and research in petroleum engineering and related fields and to become leaders in academia, industry, and government.

Program Specific Objectives (PSO)

PSO 1: To enable graduates to design and optimize drilling operations for safe and efficient oil and gas extraction.

PSO 2: To equip graduates with the skills to evaluate subsurface formations and estimate reserves using advanced modeling techniques.

PSO 3: To prepare graduates with the ability to design and operate production systems for oil and gas wells, including production enhancement techniques and artificial lift systems.

PSO 4: To develop graduates who are proficient in using modern software and tools for petroleum engineering design, analysis, and simulation, and who can adapt to emerging technologies and trends in the field.

PSO 5: To instill in graduates a sense of ethical responsibility and professionalism, with an understanding of the social, environmental, and economic implications of their work in the petroleum industry.

PSO 6: To prepare graduates for successful careers in the petroleum industry, including opportunities in oil and gas exploration and production companies, service providers, and research institutions.

Program outcomes(PO)

Program outcomes for B. Tech in Petroleum Engineering graduates include:

  1. Ability to design, develop, and manage petroleum production systems, such as analyzing geological data, designing drilling and production operations, and managing surface and subsurface facilities to maximize the extraction of hydrocarbons.
  2. Proficiency in reservoir characterization and management with the help of advanced techniques and tools to characterize the properties of petroleum reservoirs, estimate their reserves and optimize their production over time.
  3. Understanding of upstream, midstream, and downstream operations: Our curriculum covers the entire value chain of the petroleum industry, from exploration and production to transportation, refining, and marketing of petroleum products.
  4. Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations that govern the petroleum industry in India and worldwide, and to design and implement measures to mitigate risks and impacts.
  5. Strong teamwork and communication skills: Petroleum engineering is a collaborative field that requires effective communication and teamwork among professionals with diverse backgrounds and skills. Our program emphasizes developing these skills through group projects, presentations, and field trips.
  6. Career opportunities in diverse sectors like the petroleum industry and related fields such as renewable energy, environmental engineering, and consulting.
