Under the patronage of Hon’ble Additional Pro-Chancellor Mr. Syed Nizamuddin, the inspiration of Vice Chancellor Prof. Hriday Shankar Singh, and the guidance of Registrar Prof. Shivani Tiwari, International Yoga Day was celebrated today at Glocal University. The event was organized under the coordination of the Dean of Student Welfare and NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Shobha Tripathi. The entire session was conducted under the direction of Mr. Girish Kumar, Yoga Teacher, Glocal Ayurvedic College.

Students of NSS Unit 1 & 2 and the Ayurvedic College had been practicing for this event over the past week. As per the directives of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, this year’s yoga theme was “Yoga Unplugged – Youth-led Yog for Wellness.”

During the session, instructor Mr. Girish Kumar, along with Ayurvedic College students Vaibhav and Diviksha his fellow student, guided participants through Surya Namaskar, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Bhadrasana, Janu Shirshasana, Chakki Asana, Mandukasana, Vrikshasana, Tadasana, Trikonasana, Vakrasana, and various Pranayama techniques, while also explaining their specific health benefits. These included enhanced concentration, strengthened respiratory system, controlled blood pressure, reduced mental stress, stronger muscles and joints, improved immunity, hormonal balance, better digestion, improved sleep quality, and relief from back pain and cervical issues—resulting in overall physical and mental well-being.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Hriday Shankar Singh stated that yoga is not only beneficial for physical health but also helps reduce mental stress and anxiety. It provides an effective alternative to numerous medications that come with side effects.

Present at the event were Additional Pro-Chancellor Mr. Syed Nizamuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AYUSH Prof. John Finbay, Unani Principal Dr. Rehan, Programme Officer Dr. Sanjeev Nandal, all faculty deans, DSW members Ms. Fatima Parveen Aqeel and Mr. Joginder, faculty members, students of the Ayurvedic College, and NSS volunteers. Approximately 400 participants took part in the yoga session.
