GLOCAL UNIVERSITY ORGANIZED SEMINAR AND AWARENESS PROGRAM ON WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY
Glocal College of Paramedical Science and Research Center (GCPSRC), Glocal University, organized a seminar and an awareness programme on the occasion of “World Tuberculosis Day” on March 24, 2023, at Medical Auditorium. The theme of ‘World Tuberculosis Day 2023’ was ‘Yes, we can end TB.
The programme was organized under the visionary leadership of honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Bharti. The event started with lamp lighting and a welcome address by Mrs. Swarnima Singh, Assistant Professor, GCPSRC. The invited dignitaries were felicitated by presenting a flower bouquet by Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Principal, GCPSRC, and faculties of GCPSRC. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Bharti, blessed students. Prof. Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Glocal University, spoke about how we could end TB and emphasize yoga and naturopathy. Prof. Pramod Kumar, Dean of Academics, Glocal University, addressed the students and told them how we could spread awareness among people in rural areas on TB.
Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Principal, GCPSRC & Director, IQAC, delivered an introductory remark and emphasized the importance of World TB Day. Prof. Umesh Kumar, Dean of Pharmacy College, addressed his views on the current scenario of diagnostic delay in TB and inadequate treatment, which contributes to the severity and mortality of the disease as well as the risk of transmission and development of drug resistance. Dr. Finbe Baby, Ayurveda College, said that TB is a stigma in the rural community; therefore, a lot of awareness programs need to be conducted in rural areas regularly.
Prof. (Dr.) Varsha Deva, Pharmacy College, delivered a lecture on the prevention and control of TB and discussed various methods of diagnosing and treating pulmonary and extra-pulmonary TB. Ms. Willams discussed on prevention of Tuberculosis. Mr. Gautam Panwar discussed general awareness and risk factors for TB.
Posters and models on various aspects of Tuberculosis awareness were prepared and exhibited by the students of Glocal University in poster and model-making competitions. Dr. Neha, Dr. Pratibha, Dr. Babu Khan, Mr. Trilok Kumar, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Ms. Ashrita Dubey, and Ms. Rashda Rahman were on the judge’s panel for poster and model competitions. Ms. Syeda Tanzeela, Ms. Iqra Farooq, Mr. Sheikh Abdul Wase, and Mr. Gurdeep Panwar conducted a quiz competition on Tuberculosis awareness.
Certificates, Trophies, Medals, and Cash prizes were presented to winners and runners; participants in the quiz, poster, and model making Competitions on Tuberculosis by Prof. R. D. Dwivedi, Registrar, Glocal University, Prof. Shiw Parsan Pandey, Campus Director and Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Principal, GCPSRC & Director, IQAC. The first prize in the quiz competition was awarded to the Group of Madiha, Alina, Saquib, Talib, Aquif, and Shahbaz from Paramedical College. The model-making competition winner was Alka and Sanika, Manoranjan, Anand, and Raj Kishor from Ayurveda College. The winner of the Poster presentation was Alka and Sanika from Ayurveda College.
This event was a grand success with the participation of more than 200 students, Faculty members, Dignitaries/Directors/ Deans/Principals/Heads from all Schools/ Colleges of Glocal University.
The event was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Ashrita Dubey, Assistant Professor, GCPSRC. Mrs. Swarnima Singh and Paramedical students’ Aasiya, and Namra hosted the event. All faculties of GCPSRC, program committee members, and volunteers (significantly Madiha, Umar, Nishat, Rahil, and Amree) actively contributed to making this event a grand success.
