On July 20, 2024, Glocal University organized a Tree Plantation Drive titled “Vraksharopan Samaroh 2024” under the visionary leadership of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) P. K. Bharti as part of University’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. The event begans with the aim to plant 2100 trees across the campus, fostering a greener and healthier environment for the university community. The plantation drive commenced from the Herbal Garden. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The event was spearheaded by Dr. Swarnima Singh, Dean of Students’ Welfare and Dr. Gulfishan, Dean Glocal School of Agriculture, who highlighted the significance of tree plantation in combating climate change and enhancing biodiversity.
Participants were divided into teams, each assigned specific areas of the campus for planting. Various species of trees including Jamun, Neem, harar, aam, amrud, kanji etc were planted, chosen for their adaptability to the local climate and ecological benefits. Thousand trees were given to Glocal University by Van Vibhag, Badshahibag and eleven hundred were purchased from local nursery. Volunteers were guided by horticulture experts to ensure the proper planting and initial care of each tree. The event saw the participation of Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr.) Satish Kumar Sharma, IQAC director Prof (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar and over 500 individuals, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. Their collective efforts contributed significantly to the successful planting of 2100 trees.
