On 24th January 2025, Glocal University celebrated Uttar Pradesh Diwas with enthusiasm and active participation from students across various courses and departments. The event, themed “Vikas v Virasat: Pragati Path par Uttar Pradesh” (Development vs. Heritage: Uttar Pradesh on the Path of Progress), was held in the Seminar Room of the Unani College. The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Rehan Safee, Principal of Glocal Unani Medical College, who emphasized the importance of celebrating Uttar Pradesh’s heritage and its remarkable progress.
Screening of a Documentary- A documentary titled “Culture and Heritage of Uttar Pradesh” was screened, showcasing the rich cultural diversity, historical monuments, and the developmental strides made by the state. The documentary highlighted the slogan provided by the Uttar Pradesh government: “Vikas v Virasat – Pragati Path Par Uttar Pradesh.”
Quiz Competition: “Know Your Uttar Pradesh”- The quiz competition, conducted by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Kalim, was the highlight of the event. Students from different courses participated enthusiastically, showcasing their knowledge of Uttar Pradesh’s history, culture, and current affairs. Participants were divided into two groups – boys and girls. The judges for this session were Dr. Anjum Javed and Dr. Sana Zaki.
Some of the notable participants included: Boys’ Group: Mohd Aqib, Sahjad Ali, Saad Akhtar Zaidi, Suhail, Nadeem, and Arshad.
Girls’ Group: Misbah, Adiba Sadaf, Daniya Masood, Uzma Rafat, Tuba Khan, Sumaiya Md Ismail, Soha Akhtar, Khan Alafsa Mehmood, Shanzal Turki, Insha, and Syed Sana.
Students displayed enthusiasm and a strong competitive spirit, making the quiz both exciting and informative.
Virtual Exhibition- The event also featured a virtual exhibition that showcased the iconic monuments of Uttar Pradesh, giving students an opportunity to appreciate the architectural marvels and heritage of the state.
The program witnessed the presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Shama Abdul Hai, Dr. Mohd Arshad Khan, Dr. Sana Zaki, Dr. Mohd Imlaque, Dr. Mohd Shareef, and several other staff members who contributed to the event’s success. The program was meticulously conducted by Mr. Dilip Kumar, the Faculty Coordinator.
A special acknowledgment goes to Prof. (Dr.) Rehan Safee, Principal of Glocal Unani Medical College, for his unwavering support and guidance, which greatly contributed to the success of the celebration.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organizers for making the celebration memorable. The Uttar Pradesh Diwas celebration at Glocal University served as an excellent platform for students to appreciate the state’s cultural and developmental legacy while fostering a sense of pride and unity.
