At Glocal University, Saharanpur, under the inspiration of Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor P.K. Bharti, the motivation of Registrar Professor Shivani Tiwari, and under the chairmanship of Chief Finance Officer CA A.P. Singh, a meeting was organized with public representatives and religious leaders regarding tuberculosis eradication as part of the 100-day Intensive TB Campaign under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program. The meeting was coordinated by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Program Officers, Dr. Shobha Tripathi and Dr. Sanjeev Mandal, in accordance with government directives.
It was decided in the meeting that ASHA and ANM workers appointed in villages would conduct door-to-door visits to identify tuberculosis patients and ensure their referral to government hospitals. Glocal University will arrange free medical camps in the villages. NSS volunteers will run door-to-door awareness campaigns for TB eradication. Arrangements for cleanliness will be ensured by sanitation workers in the villages. Awareness banners will be displayed under the awareness campaign, and after prayers at mosques, sermons and consultations will be used to raise community awareness.
As part of the banner campaign, banners have been put up at Glocal University’s main gate, Badshahi Bagh Chowk, and in villages.
Participants in the meeting included Mahaveer Singh Nautiyal (village head of Mayapur Rupapur), representatives Zakir Hussain, Ikram Ahmed, Shehban Ali, and Satish Pradhan (village head of Kasampur), Afzal Ahmed (Principal of District School), Abdul Mannan (representative of village Chatki), Hafiz Zeeshan (Imam of Glocal University Mosque), and Shahnawaz Ali (IT Head of Glocal University) along with Surjeet (Deputy Finance Officer).
All participants assured their full cooperation in the campaign. The first one-day camp is scheduled to be held on January 12, 2025, at Badshahi Bagh.
