Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at Glocal University

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at Glocal University, Saharanpur. The program commenced at 9:00 AM with the Flag Hoisting by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, followed by the National Anthem.

In his address, the Hon’ble Additional Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Syed Nizamuddin, emphasized that “to keep our nation on the path of progress in these changing times, we must maintain a balance of science, technology, culture, and human values.”

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hriday Shankar Singh, while addressing everyone, said that “today we breathe in a free India because of the sacrifices of our ancestors. But true freedom can only be safeguarded through continuous effort and awareness. Our tricolor is not just a flag; it is the symbol of our identity, unity, and diversity. Freedom means not only political independence but also freedom of thought, expression, and innovation. As a university, it is our responsibility to impart not just knowledge but also instill character, leadership, and social responsibility in our students so that they become true citizens of the nation.”

The Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Finbe, in his speech, said that “Independence Day symbolizes the glory of our past, the responsibility of our present, and the hope for our future. Today, we must reflect that our youth should not only be job seekers but also the ones who guide society and the nation.”

On this occasion, the Registrar, Prof. Shivani Tiwari, stated that “today is the day to remember the countless brave souls who sacrificed their lives to gift us freedom. Independence is not just a right but also a responsibility. We must strengthen it through our conduct, actions, and thoughts.”

During the ceremony, meritorious students were honored with medals, and employees with outstanding service were awarded certificates. This was followed by a vibrant cultural program comprising patriotic songs and dance performances.

The entire program was coordinated by Dean of Student Welfare, Dr. Shobha Tripathi, with support from Chief Proctor Dr. Jameerul Islam, Admin Officer Mr. Maqsood Ahmad, Mr. Joginder, Dr. Shashank Saini, Dr. Reena, and Ms. Fatima. The event was conducted by students Mudassir Patel and Sonali. Participants included students such as Ishita, Mohd. Shan, Parvez Alam, Mohd. Anas, Saloni, Khushi, Shivani, Prachi, Nikita, Priya, and many others.

The celebration witnessed the presence of all Deans, Principals, Faculty Members, and staff of the university. The entire ceremony was successfully concluded in an atmosphere filled with patriotism, unity, and enthusiasm.
