Under the visionary guidance of the Glocal University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Bharti, and the Glocal University’s Registrar, Dr. Shivani Tiwari, the Glocal Law School organized a special awareness campaign on women empowerment as part of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ambitious “Mission Shakti Campaign.” This initiative aimed to raise awareness about women’s rights among rural women and girls in Mahmood Majra village of the Saharanpur district, where faculty and students of the Glocal Law School educated them about their rights.
The event was designed to spread awareness about women’s safety and their rights. During the campaign, the participating women were informed in detail about their legal rights, especially the Women Power Line 1090, UP 112, and various helpline numbers. They were taught how to use these helplines in times of distress. The event also included self-defense tips for women.
In the opening remark, the programme’s anchor and Dean of Glocal Vocational Studies School Dr. Reshma Tahir highlighted the importance of education and the legal provisions established to protect women’s rights. He stressed the need for women to become aware and make use of their rights under these legal provisions.
The entire programme was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) P.S. Pawar, Dean of Glocal Law School, and the programme was coordinated by Dr. Aateka Bano of the Glocal Law School.
The Gram Pradhaan of Mahmood Majra village Mr. Haji Abdul Waheed addressed the women, emphasizing that every woman has an equal right in society and that the government stands by them. The Gram Pradhaan of Raipur village Haji Mohammad Matloob said that the “Mission Shakti Campaign” reflects the state government’s strong commitment to women’s safety and empowerment, marking an important step in improving the status of women in rural areas.
Dr. Gaurav Tyagi, Ms. Vaishali of Glocal Law School, and Adv. Babloo Kumar, Mr. Qari Raees, Mohammad Afzal (LLB 2nd Yr) and Salman Ahmed (BALLB 2nd Yr), shed light on various laws, including the POSH Act, Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, including programme and policies of the Government and others.
The event was attended by Glocal Law School’s faculty members Mr. Praveen Kumar, Mr. Aditya Tomar, rural women, students, and Mohammad Sajid, Mohammad Haroon, Raju Pradhan and other distinguished residents of Mahmood Majra and Raipur villages.
