The Glocal College of Paramedical Science and Research Centre marked the International Day of Radiology (IDoR) 2024 with a two-day celebration, starting with pre-event competitions on November 7, followed by the main event on November 8. These activities aimed to promote radiology awareness, foster creativity, and celebrate the pivotal role of radiology in healthcare.
Day 1: Pre-Event Competitions (November 7, 2024)
To build excitement for IDoR, a series of engaging pre-event competitions were held, where students showcased their talents and knowledge related to radiology. These competitions included:
- Rangoli Competition: Students from various programs crafted colorful rangoli designs, incorporating radiology themes that highlighted the significance of this field in medicine. The event brought a festive start to the celebration.
- Poster and Model Presentation: Participants displayed posters and models illustrating radiology concepts like imaging technology and diagnostic advancements. Each team presented their work to judges, blending research with creativity in an accessible format.
- Quiz Competition: Teams competed in a quiz testing their radiology knowledge and healthcare awareness. This lively event created a thrilling environment, with students showcasing their expertise and teamwork.
- Speech Competition: Students gave speeches on topics related to radiology’s impact on healthcare. Judges assessed their knowledge, delivery, and engagement with the audience, making it an inspiring end to the day’s competitions.
The day concluded with an award ceremony to honor competition winners, building a sense of camaraderie and anticipation for the main event.
Day 2: International Day of Radiology Celebration (November 8, 2024)
The main event, organized under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Bharti, began with a warm welcome for distinguished guests, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting and a recitation of *Saraswati Vandana*. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Principal of the college, delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the significance of radiology in modern medicine.
Keynote Speakers and Highlights:
- Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor: Dr. Sharma’s inaugural speech focused on radiology’s transformative role in diagnostics and patient care, inspiring attendees to strive for excellence in the field.
- Prof. (Dr.) John Finbe, Pro Vice Chancellor (Ayush): Dr. Finbe discussed the integration of traditional medicine with radiology, highlighting its holistic benefits for patient care.
- Mrs. Shivani Tiwari, Registrar: Mrs. Tiwari encouraged students and faculty to advance their knowledge in radiology, emphasizing teamwork and dedication.
- Dr. Reihan, Incharge of Glocal Hospital: Dr. Reihan shared insights on radiology’s crucial role in patient diagnostics and treatment.
- CA A.P. Singh, CFO: Mr. Singh’s heartfelt poem dedicated to radiologists acknowledged their dedication and resonated deeply with the audience.
Academic Session:
The academic session included insightful talks by faculty members:

– Ms. Himani Naudiyal: “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Radiology.”
– Ms. Ashrita Dubey: “The Use of Radiological Imaging Technology in Forensic Science.”
Cultural Celebrations:
The day also included cultural performances, with Pahadi and Punjabi dances, singing acts, stand-up comedy, and a student drama. A speech by Ilma Parveen added a reflective note to the day’s festivities. Awards were distributed to winners from the previous day’s competitions, acknowledging their efforts and dedication.
Closing Ceremony:
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of IDoR, followed by an awards ceremony and a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Ms. Hena Rajput. A group photograph and the national anthem marked the end of the celebration, uniting students and faculty in appreciation for radiology’s impact on healthcare.
