Career Path/Opportunities

After completed B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as per NEP 2020, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes a multidisciplinary, flexible, and skill-oriented higher education structure. A B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics aligns well with NEP’s objectives and opens a wide range of career paths across academic, research, industrial, government, and entrepreneurial sectors.

  1. Higher Education and Research
  2. a) Postgraduate Studies

Graduates can pursue advanced degrees in specialized fields:

M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics – for academic and research careers.

Interdisciplinary PG courses – such as Data Science, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or Applied Mathematics.

NEP 2020 also allows 4-year honours students to directly enroll in Ph.D. programs, bypassing a traditional Master’s in some cases.

  1. b) Research Careers

Students interested in scientific inquiry can:

Apply for research fellowships via CSIR-NET, GATE, JEST, NBHM, etc.

Join institutions like IISc, IISERs, IITs, TIFR, BARC, DRDO, and ISRO.

Contribute to emerging fields like Quantum Computing, Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence in Science, etc.

  1. Government and Public Sector Jobs

NEP emphasizes employability, and B.Sc. graduates are eligible for a range of roles in the public sector.

  1. a) Civil and Administrative Services

Appear for UPSC Civil Services, Indian Forest Services, or State PSCs.

Join as scientific officers, surveyors, or statistical officers in government departments.

  1. b) Defense and Security Services
