Experience Prof. Om Kumar Harsh brings over five decades of distinguished academic experience as an educator, researcher, industry specialist, and institution builder. Of these, more than 25 years were spent abroad, contributing to higher education and research across Australia, the UAE, Oman, Malaysia, and the UK.
Recent Career Prof. Harsh currently serves as Honorary Pro-Chancellor (Additional) of Glocal University and International Academic & Research Advisor at Brit College, London.
Prof. Om Kumar Harsh has held several distinguished leadership positions in higher education, serving as Vice-Chancellor of Tantia University, Director of Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of Glocal University, and Group Director of Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology.
An Indian Australian educator and scientist, Prof. Harsh is widely recognized for his leadership in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary domains within higher education, research, and innovation. He holds four research degrees spanning Computer Science, Physics, and Engineering, and is a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of New England (UNE). He has played a pivotal role in advancing skill development initiatives (Australian Skill Education) and establishing research programs at several universities.
Earlier Career Prof. Om Kumar Harsh began his academic journey as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Lucknow University and Banaras Hindu University before joining Kanpur University (FG College) as a faculty member in Physics. He collaborated with Prof. B. K. Agarwal, Head of Department at Allahabad University, during which period he completed significant research that culminated in the award of the D.Sc. degree. He later advanced his career internationally, serving in academic and research roles at leading institutions including the University of New South Wales, Charles Sturt University, Monash University in Malaysia, and the University of South Australia. His leadership extended to Dubai, where he was Professor and Dean of Computer Science at American Champlain College, and to Oman, where he held senior positions at Mazoon College and Al-Bruaimi College. Returning to India, he became Director of Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology in Mathura and subsequently became Group Director of Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology. He later assumed top leadership roles as Vice-Chancellor of Tantia University and Glocal University, as well as Pro-Chancellor (Additional) at Glocal University.
Mentorship & LegacyProf. Harsh has successfully supervised over 75 Ph.D. and master’s research scholars, leaving a lasting impact on academic mentorship and institutional development.
